What is cleansing?
Okay so imagine this, you walk into a coffee shop and you see someone that really pissed you off in the past. You order your coffee, go about your day, but that wave of negativity sticks with you until you get home. This happens to your crystals as well! Everywhere your crystal has been, it has absorbed the energy from that environment, whether positive or negative. Now that your crystal has found its home, it’s important to give it a self-care day and cleanse it of its stagnant energy.
4 common ways to cleanse your crystals
1.Moonlight
We love the moon and so do our crystals! Place your crystals in a windowsill, balcony or anywhere that your crystals can receive ample moonlight. You can leave your crystals to cleanse overnight, but if you don’t have the time, a couple hours will suffice. Remember to bring your crystals inside in the morning, you don’t want them missing you too much! (Be careful because some crystals fade in the sunlight)
Crystals that cannot be placed in the sun:
- Amber
- Amethyst
- Apatite
- Aquamarine
- Auralite
- Calcite
- Celestite
- Citrine
- Fluorite
- Opal
- Clear Quartz
- Rose Quartz
- Smoky Quartz
- Spirit Quartz
- Sapphire
- Super Seven
- Topaz
- Turquoise
2.Sunlight
Another simple way to cleanse your crystals are by placing them in sunlight. You have to be careful though as mentioned above, some crystals fade in the sunlight, some even become brittle and break! Place your crystals on your windowsill, balcony or anywhere that your crystals can receive ample sunlight. Leave them for a couple hours to cleanse and you’re done.
3.Smoke
One of my favorite ways to cleanse crystals is with smoke. A smoke cleanse is perfect because it is safe to do for all crystals. Place your crystal above your your smoke cleansing tool, example dragon’s blood, blue sage, incense etc. and allow it to be engulfed by the smoke.
4.Earth
A crystal’s first home is the earth, so it’s only right that they get placed back into the earth to be cleansed. Bury your crystals in the earth and allow them to be cleansed for 24 hours minimum. I recommend to place clusters and geodes in a box before burying. Towers and tumbles can be buried directly into the earth.
How to charge your crystals?
You’ve finished cleansing your crystals now it’s time to charge them. Charging your crystals is important because it gives your crystals some additional energy to facilitate your needs.
3 common ways to charge your crystals:
1.Selenite
Selenite is a crystal that can be used to charge other crystals. It can be cut into different shapes and sizes for different purposes. For the purpose of charging you can place your crystals on a selenite slab or bowl after cleansing.
2.Moonlight
Moonlight is very versatile when it comes to crystals, as seen it can cleanse and charge them. Place your crystals in a windowsill, balcony or anywhere that your crystals can receive ample moonlight. A popular time to charge your crystals is during a full moon due to the vast amount of power it emits. Leave your crystals to charge overnight, then collect them in the morning.
3.Sunlight
Lastly, you can place charge your crystals with sunlight. Place your crystals in a windowsill, balcony or anywhere that your crystals can receive ample sunlight.
